Jharkhand is an important state in eastern India, known for its plateau landscape, forest resources, mineral wealth, tribal cultural heritage, and river valleys. The state was carved out of southern Bihar and officially came into existence on 15 November 2000. Jharkhand is widely recognized for its significance in studies related to physical geography, mining regions, tribal settlements, forest resources, industrial development, and regional planning.

According to the Census of India 2011, Jharkhand had a total population of 32,988,134. Under the 2011 Census administrative structure, the state had:

  • Total Districts: 24
  • Total Sub-districts (Tehsils): 259
  • Total Community Development Blocks: 259
  • Total Villages: 32,584
  • Total Urban Areas: 41
